Arts
We are constantly striving to develop our curriculum to enable children to work in creative, expressive ways which produce art for art’s sake, as well as to support learning across the curriculum. In this way, we try to form high-quality knowledge that will help self-realization, and well-formed homework also helps us in this, you can read about pros and cons for homework separately.
Children learn to express themselves through music, dance and drama in their class learning as well as through various extra-curricular activities.
We are proud to be an Associate School of The Royal Shakespeare Company. As such, our staff and children enjoy exclusive access to training, performances and opportunities with the RSC and other associate schools, and our curriculum learning is heavily influenced by this relationship. Our staff are at the forefront of curriculum development in this area, in conjunction with the local Creative Hub of teachers and practitioners.
Additionally, we are working with The Royal Ballet and Royal Opera House on the National Nutcracker project, we have a partnership with The Royal & Derngate Theatres in Northampton and with The University of Northampton. We are also keen supporters of Notivate, and are active in the Northamptonshire Anti-Bullying Song-writing Competition each year.

Sports News
During our PE lessons, the children have all taken part in some ‘Real PE’ lessons, lessons in which they develop their agility, balance and co-ordination through a variety of activities and challenges. They have also enjoyed Gymnastics, working on shape in particular.
Some of the children have taken part in competitions over the Autumn Term. We have played football matches, rugby matches, basketball matches and have also entered a gymnastics competition. By far, our most successful achievement was winning the Town Rugby Tournament. 32 schools competed from across the Town, and we ran out winners for the first time in our history.
We are looking forward to the Spring Term where we will be taking part in more competitions – Athletics and Gymnastics in particular. There will also be a variety of clubs for the children to join. Look out for the letters coming home!
