Last year was an amazingly successful year in Sports competitions. Our trophy cabinet is looking fuller than it ever has done. However, we remember a few important things: to follow the safety rules (or with the request rewrite my paper using https://300writers.com/rewrite-my-essay.html if you are not confident in your writing skills), the child must have a desire to engage in this sport, provide children with the appropriate tools.

We have already made a positive start to this new academic year too. Firstly, we entered a Year 5 and 6 Girls Football tournament. We competed very well and managed to qualify for the finals by winning all of our games! Here we played the best teams in the town – and came 3rd! An impressive performance by all the girls involved.

Following on from this we took part in a Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby competition. The first competition was tough and we finished in 4th. This, however, put us through to the plate finals against other schools who finished in a similar position. At this competition we got all the way to the final, losing to Hunsbury Park. Another great effort.

It has been great to see so many children get along to after school sports clubs. The competitions are fantastic, but there is so much more going on at Thorplands than these. It’s great to see. Maybe in the next blog I can show some photos of those clubs too!

Our busy and successful sporting year continues! Over the course of this term we have taken part in a variety of competitions. It started brilliantly with the Year 3 and 4 hockey competition. The children got all the way to the final, only losing 1-0 in extra time. We did, however, qualify for the county finals as a result! Next came the Year 4 and 5 basketball. Again, very impressive – getting through to the town finals in their first competition. In the finals they performed brilliantly winning the bronze medal!

The following week saw our Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby team play in the County Finals. Against very difficult opponents they performed impressively and should be very pleased with their efforts. The amazing gymnasts in Year 1 represented Thorplands in the County Finals too. They did their very best and came a credible 7th – in the whole of Northamptonshire.

Our Girls in Year 5 and 6 have had a brilliant end to the term too. They took part in a Tag Rugby tournament, winning 4 out of 5 games and receiving a silver medal. They also played in a cricket tournament where they won 4 out of 4 games, qualifying for the town finals.

Finally, to cap off a very busy sporting term, the Year 5 and 6 Athletics team took part in a Town Competition which involved 27 schools. All the children competed very well and their combined score meant that we finished in 4th place overall – an extremely impressive result.
