Let’s Celebrate!

In reception our theme is ‘Celebrations’ and there is a lot to celebrate this autumn term, not only in our reception class but across the country and sometimes in other parts the world too.

Our first big event is our whole school Harvest assembly. We will be learning about what it means to harvest different types of foods and about Harvest Celebrations and festivals.

Another celebration is Divali. What is Divali? What is the story behind it? Who celebrates Divali? How is Divali celebrated? Where is it celebrated? These are just some of the questions we will be finding out about, in our last week of term. Very exciting!

What a busy week it’s been. Easter is almost upon us and the children have been on Easter Egg Hunts with nursery and the parents who work so hard to help our children both at home and at school.

The daffodils that we planted back in the Autumn term are starting to bloom and today the children had a fantastic time painting them to brighten up a somewhat soggy day.

We have been learning about The Easter Story and why Easter eggs symbolise new life. The children also got to enjoy seeing chocolate melt and made these lovely Easter nests to take home.

Best of all: another 100 marbles in the jar for everyone working together and demonstrating our values as a whole class. This time we really had a ball. The children helped to plan a banquet to celebrate with a

Hamlet theme. They wrote invitations and then celebrated the end of our theme in style: Dancing and feasting.

Next term our theme is All Creatures Great and Small. We will be learning about some of the largest and smallest animals on our wonderful planet.

Hope you all have a great Easter holiday from all in the reception team.
