In Year 1, we have been having great fun illustrating our own versions of Little Red Riding Hood on the computers and have been learning songs to go with a modern version of the story. “Red, red, I love red, from the tips of my fingers to the top of my head.” is very catchy and gets sung constantly.

In maths we have been using the vocabulary of ‘taller, longer, and shorter’ while measuring things around the classroom using objects like cubes, paperclips and hands. We made our own rulers and solved problems about height. For the rest of this term we will be focusing on number work up to 40.

On Wednesday we had a special delivery to the classroom of a medieval scroll inviting us to a banquet in honour of Prince Hamlet’s marriage. We will be writing our own invitations and making them look like medieval scrolls. We will even be making our own tunics for the event.
